TopFly is a private initiative whose goal is to have the greatest number of pilots discovering, sharing and being taught the joy of the "dream flights" in sailplanes, and in particular, the dynamic and wave flights, that Jean-Marie Clément had already studied during his engineering degree studies in Paris in 1967 and later, at the Polytechnic of Turin with the late, regretted Prof. Piero Morelli.

In 1982, Jean-Marie achieved the first 1000km flight in Europe, in the Alps and using wave. He then started putting down in black and white his techniques for analysing and exploiting atmospheric gravity wave systems, which are still the subject of conferences regularly presented within the aero-clubs.

His texts and pictures are continuously updated, following the progress of his discoveries and the experiences and applications, applying the enormous technological improvements concerning calculation and communication. This has allowed him, since 1998, to achieve previously unimaginable performances in terms of distance and speed, the two being strictly correlated, totalling today 27 French records, of which seven achieved in the Alps, and 5 world records. More important is the fact that twenty two of these records and a great number of other "dream flights" have been achieved with a two-seater glider, allowing to efficiently transmit his knowledge and sharing these emotions with more than one hundred pilots who often admit that they "have learned more during this 10 hour flight that in 10 years of activity within the club".

Since year 2000, cheaper airfares have allowed people to go flying where the meteorological conditions are the best of the world and TopFly regularly organizes expeditions in Patagonia, for pilots of any level, the goal being to make these dream flights accessible to the greatest number. 
 
TopFly is in no way a commercial enterprise, there is no paid personnel, its operation is based upon the principle to share the participation in the expense only of every expedition, some sort of "delocalized roving club".
